Default Crappie Eggs in mid June

It's not often I catch crappie with eggs this time of the year, but 4 of the 6 fish I kept and cleaned were full of eggs. They were big whites too. Makes me wonder about this years spawn.

The fish in this pic was full of eggs. Later my belly was full o this fish.

    Anyone seeing eggs?

With the weather patterns so erratic, not too surprising that some areas experienced unusual spawns. Glad you caught some.

Crappie here in Kansas have eggs, caught some today. Normally the 1st part of May the spawn is on big time and I catch all I want but not this year. The good news is the lakes are full and fish are biting.

Seeing the same thing in North MS. We have caught about 50 keepers since this time last week and have found eggs in about a dozen or more fish. Not full and fat like during March & April, almost like they didn't finish laying them out. I was curious about this as well. Our water temp is well into the 80's here now. And none of the fish are being caught in shallow water.

I see this every year. I think most crappie don't completely empty out all the eggs they produce while spawning. Some fish just reabsorb the eggs if conditions aren't right when they are ready to spawn. I've seen crappie and bass in the hot summer time that had eggs that were as hard as BBs.

From the numbers of dinks we have been catching on cranks that are almost as big as the fish we catch, I think the future looks bright on KY Lake.

I'm hoping you are right. Never seen as many dinks as right now. Good fish been tough to find. Just curious what is water temp down where you are?

Over the last 6-7 years, we have had more bad spawns than good. The fish being caught reflect this fact and so does the fish not being caught. I have seen eggs in fish this time of the year, but not in this quantity proportion, especially with the higher surface water temps.
