    Default Fort Loudoun 8-2-2015

With my back still in knots, I thought I would go and pull some cranks. I thought I would take it easy and just enjoy the morning with some lines out of the back of the boat. My back was going to hurt no matter what I was doing, so might as well be fishing. I scanned some stake beds and never picked up the crankbait rods. Used the little short rod with 4lb line and Started out with 1/16th ounce black and chart crappie magnets when the light was low and then switched to purple and chartruse. Ended the morning with blue and chartruse hot grub. All fish in 17-20' fow with water temp at 85 degrees. Caught 32 total 6 of which were short. Also caught 3 largemouth. Took a few pics and released all fish. Some bites were very aggressive and others were very light. I quit at 1030, back couldn't take it any more. Beautiful morning to be out, nice and cool early. Never saw another crappie fisherman....one of my favorite times of the year to fish...the dog days.Name: image.jpg

Good job. Loudons sometimes hard to figure. Looks like you had no problem. I'm still waiting for you to come fish with me! Boats always open.

Good trip!!!!! Could someone tell about that knot he's using to tie those jigs on?

Bruce...I use a double loop knot when jig fishing. I can tie it in a matter of seconds and it allows the jig to hang horizontal and it gives it a little more action in my opinion. Some say it is a weak knot, but I haven't had a problem with it.

Good report, hope the back gets better soon, fishing made it feel a bit better I'm sure, or at least forget about it for a little while. LOL
    GO BIG ORANGE !

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

This is a great report. I have never been on Loudoun lake. I hope to get up there soon and begin to learn about it.
