Kentucky Lake help
Reelfoot has been my home lake for quite a while and the only place I have really focused on crappie fishing. It has been so slow this year that I have decided to start exploring Kentucky Lake. I was hoping to get some pointers on how to fish this water. I have a small 14 ft. john with a 9.9 Johnson on it so I really can't travel on the water like the big boats can. I need to put in close to where I want to fish. I am looking at Birdsong and Big Sandy areas which are about 2 hours travel from my home in the Hornbeak area. I have a HB 598 that I just picked up and will be learning how to use it as I go. I am set up to spider rig or single pole.
I was hoping that some of you might drop a few clues as to where to start exploring and the techniques to use for winter fishing these areas. It is a vastly different body of water then Reelfoot!
If anybody needs some company on the water for a day and wants to show me a few tricks I would be more then happy to join you and am available almost any time.

I have concerns on my boat size as well. Birdsong looks pretty manageable and has what looks to be pretty good ramp access.

Winds shouldn't be as strong as in spring. Just be careful out there. Ky lake can get nasty.

Seems to be trend I fished reelfoot til march this yr did not catch the fish I normally did blamed on winter but have not fished there since March April but seems like several people that normally catch fish had tough year this year at reelfoot so are looking for new water to fish the port Rd landing is public (free) good places to fish in that bay antioch Rd swamp creek after March 15th these are up arpund buchanan then country junction when water level comes up but pay per launch or day I'm not sure at their ramp closer to big sandy

Go to Birdsong, you can find the creek with your HB 598. Deep water in the creek and mid range depth on top of ledge. Just pick your days in 14ft boat, would only go on days with light and variable wind this time of year. Message me if you want more info, I've done good there the last two trips.

I have actually watched people load the boat with crappie fishing around the Birdsong marina and Muscle beds. 14ft will be fine in Birdsong creek, out past the river mouth becomes a whole different situation.

You can also fish Britton Ford and Country Junction. Im an ole Reelfoot boy too but we had good success at Ky Lake this year.
