Thread: Question from georgia about tims ford

At about 36,000 acres it can be a bit tough to get used to but the fish it gives are a size above some of the others close to here. Clear water and lots of other species to keep you busy too. As a member of the Middle Tennessee Crappie Club, it is one of the lakes we fish all year long. Shallow brush to deep timber and ledges, it's all there somewhere. Tim's Ford state park has accommodations and ramps and there are other public areas if you like. I believe you would enjoy your stay, local folks are real nice too.

Yes check out middle tn crappie club's blog here in crappie.com. You will find reports as early as last month. We fish it on a regular basis. Big lake and everywhere looks fishy. Nice crappie, small mouth, rock fish and large mouth in that lake. Have had some very good trips there. Last time at the tournament Jerry and I boated 50 or so but nothing over 1.25 pounds. One of the other guys caught a very nice 2lber with a couple of other guys weighing in fish of 1.5 or better. The lake is big and pretty easy to navigate. Only a few shallow spots to worry about. Deep lake, rocky hard bottom. It's not all that big compared to a lake Guntersville but at 10,700 acres full pool its a good size for sure. Its at winter pool now, so its easier to find fish as there is much less hiding places for them. Lots of floating docks on it, and as others have mentioned, its pretty good for catching crappie if your use to fishing this type lake. If not, you may find it a tough place to fish. Usually pretty clear too, just fyi.

Toby's numbers were right for the lake size, don't know where I got 36.000. It's big enough to make me have plenty of gas when I go exploring. Good luck when you come and enjoy the fishing.

when you come make a weekend out of it,and check out woods resevoir just 10 minutes up the road.both lakes are good crappie lakes that time of year.the state park at tims ford has some nice cabins or you can surf around the inter-net for individuals who rent there cabins out.just let any of us know when you come,and we'll help you out.
