Got out for a few hours with another retired railroad buddy today. Great day on the water and only seen 4 other boats. Fished blowdown/laydowns and picked up 4 quality keepers. Moved to a big tree in the middle of the river and picked up 4 more plus my buddy had a surprise visit from a 6lb largemouth. This fish had a head of an eight but a body of a four pounder. Weird looking fish. Moved to some stumps on the main river channel and picked up 4 more plus 2 bull bream. When there was current they would bite. When it stopped they stopped. I was using slip float and minnows and he was using BG bluegrass and double silver rainbow on a 1/16 and sometimes a 1/8 jig. Water temp 54 degrees. ended the day with 12 slabs from 10 1/2 to 13in. with thick shoulders. Until next time.
