Thanks for the replies and advice fellas. I have taken into consideration supplemental income, medical insurance, bad days on the water and unhappy clients, etc. I currently work a 3rd shift job and make pretty good money. If I can get into the guiding business I'll do so and keep my night job for the income and insurance. I have faith in myself and my abilities to make it work. Getting started is going to be the hard part, and not getting discouraged. I do understand it may not turn out to be what I think, which is why I'm keeping my current job as well. Do y'all think tournament fishing is a good way of getting my name out there and getting started?

Best way to get your name out there is to meet all the locals at marina's, hotels, lodges and restaraunts. If they will allow you place several business cards there. Take the owners of those places out for a day. They will spread the word faster for you than any other method.

That sounds like a good idea. I'll have some business cards made and give it a shot.

Sounds like you have a plan. Winning a Crappie Masters event goes along way with clients and sponsors. There is one coming soon to Reelfoot,go for it.

That's where I plan on starting. You only have to place top ten one time in a national qualifier to go to the big tourney. What better lake to start at then my home lake lol
