Very unusual that I get a Friday off, and even more rare for it to be as wonderful a day as it was today. After a stop for the required biscuit and coffee I dropped the boat at Normandy with mixed emotions as to what I would find, and it didn't take long to find out that I wasn't where I needed to be. Pulled out and headed for Woods with a stop at the Sportsman for some extra baits I just had to have. 9am found me motoring to the fishing grounds on a lake with no wind. Now I was excited cuz I knew where the fish were here. Keeping the TM on a low setting I spent 4 hours just motoring around the area catching enough to keep me busy, no other boats around, and peeling off the extra layers, and watching the temps rise. Finished at 1pm with 5 in the box over 11, 1 at 13 1/2. Any skinnies and barely keepers were released or I could have had several more. I just felt so recharged on the way home, one day that will be hard to beat in the days to come. The bait I used was the Bobby Garland Slab Doktor, and they loved it. If I switched to a different style of plastic in the same color it didn't get hit as well. Gotta love the THUMP!! Hope you all got to enjoy the beautiful we had, been too many cold, ugly gray days lately for me. The post trip nap was icing on the cake.
