Carroll County Lake
Anyone heard anything about the fishing at the new Carroll county lake that opened a couple of days ago? I was
drive down and check it out today but family things came up.

Was there today and caught about 150 bass ranging from 8 oz to 3 1/2 pounds in about 6 hours of fishing. The only crappie being caught today that we saw were running about 9 inches. Buddy was spider rigging both jigs and minnows and the bream and bass were wearing him out. He never was able to catch a single crappie all day. One guy was catching a few on crickets. I will add that right now color, bait, etc really do not matter. There were at least 100 boats out there today and every single boat was catching lots of fish. I went there to crappie fish and just happened to pull into the first cove I came to and grabbed a rod with the crankbait that just happened to be tied on. I never changed baits the rest of the day and never fished for crappie due to having a blast catching bass nearly every cast LOL

Thanks for the good info! Sounds like a great place to take my wife and son! They just want to have something "strech their string". How many boat ramps are on the lake? Where do you pay the fee? Where the bluegill any size? Thanks again.

One BIG ramp at the Office entrance with a lot of boat parking. Pay the fee at the office which also sells crickets and worms and some tackle. No minnows there yet but a store on the Hwy70 about a mile from the lake has minnows and everything else. Gills are very nice size. I can't wait to go back just for them LOL. Right now is the perfect time to take a new or young fisherman there because they are eager to bite. That will change as time goes on I am sure.

I fished it yesterday also. True the bass! I probably caught 50, one being 7.2lbs but most in the 0.5-1.5lb range. I did land 13 crappie, both white and blacknose, but all were ~8". I caught three pretty nice bluegills. On the water at 1 off at 4. Longlining roadrunner heads with various body colors. John deere and firecracker produced marginally better.

Measuring from Googleearth it is about a mile. Generally speaking, a pretty good piece, longer than I would want to paddle while passing up a bunch of good looking water to get there.

I am about 5-6 miles from this lake. I deer hunted where you were fishing. Lots of deer in this area. I mapped the area (before they filled the gully) on my 4 wheeler. I made a map of the lake and have it on my Garmin. I am going to check out my map when the weather warms. I am a wooz.

Probably not the best idea for this lake. The main part is going to have wakes rolling non-stop and right now there are a bunch of idiots that do not understand or are ignoring the no wake zone that is clearly marked. Had several bass boats come rolling thru running 70 mph. Most got an ear full from us other fisherman when we caught up to them later. With this being the only lake in this area with the exception of the Beech chain of lakes where you can take your boat out and open it up to clear it out, it is going to be very popular with fisherman and water ski crowd alike. Best of both worlds if they will enforce the rules. You can see wakes rolling in my video at one point and that was well back into the no wake area
