Thread: Considering moving to TN in 2-3yrs. HELP

If you decide to look at Paris, Camden area, there are some nice places near Britton Ford ramp that are for sale. This area is about 15 miles from Paris or Camden and has a very good ramp near Big Sandy River (Ky Lake). You can google up paris tn or camden tn realtors and call them and ask them about what you want or whatever you are looking for.. They can send you a pic too.

I was in your shoes about 6 yrs. ago. The wife and I drove from one end of the state to the other lookin for a place to retire. Good crappie fishin was at the top of the list! Paris is a nice area and with Ky. lake so close the crappie fishin is good and Reelfoot is also good but we decided on Estill Springs in Franklin Co. We have three lakes in the imediate area, Tim's Ford, Lake Normandy and Woods Res. and 6 or 8 more within an hours drive. The wife likes the area too, there are WalMarts all over the place!! I like to say "now that I'm retired the biggest decision I have to make each day is which lake will I fish today!" Crappie fishin can be excellent on any of the three local lakes and more often than not it is. Caught a limit yesterday and plan to do the same today. Good luck on your decision.

I second fishawk. I live in Unionville about 45 miles fromn Estill Spring. I can be at any of the three lakes he mentioned in less then 40 minutes. Also Percy Priest in about 45 minutes. He is alot closer to the three. All good crappie lakes along with Tim's small mouths. Hard to beat. Estill springs is a cheaper area close to good size towns and good shopping for your wife.

Check the tax rates also. Depending on the county, you'll pay wheel tax with your annual car tag renewal and if you live in one of the goofy counties like mine (Gibson), we have 5 or 6 different school tax rates on depending on which district you live in. I would love to retire to the Paris area myself or across the river maybe in Houston or Humphreys Co. You can get property cheaper there than Paris, but it's definitely "country"

i got a place in a little town called linden. on the map its half way between perryville marina at hwy 412 and cuba landing and i-40. very nice area. some of the best fishing around, not to near the more popular places. if you will go to the middle tennessee property finders/realtracs.com you can search for different properties and price ranges. if you decide on this area let me know and i will tell you about some very god, public, concrete boat ramps with free access.

Be sure to look at a sleepy community called Dover, Tennessee. Located between Paris Tn and Clarksville Tn. Only 13 miles from Kentucky Lake, and surrounded by Lake Barkley, and only seconds from Land between the Lakes a 160,000 acre wilderness area, with hiking, biking, horseback riding, camping, hunting just about anything a man would want to do.
25 miles from Paris and 30 miles from Clarksville both of which offer shopping and such. Dover only has one red light, couple banks, Small family owned hardware store a couple small restaurants, low,low crime rate and a town full of great friendly folks. 21st century Mayberry, a step back in time. Beautiful !!
