Default Cooking Crappie on the grill?

I love to cook on the grill but never have tried fish before on the grill. Just looking for simple ways to cook a crappie on the grill. We have been eating fish just about every other night and the wife is getting tired of the fried fish. Couple of questions I have below. Thanks in advance for your help.

    1. I assume you have to cook the whole fish instead of fillets?
    2. I have one of those wire holder things I use to cook shrimp on the grill (made like a wire strainer but its flat and you put things inbetween the two sides). Would this be good to hold the fish in while cooking or is the aluminum foil is the best route?
    3. Just any lessons learned the hardway you dont mind sharing.

    4. Temparture range and about how long till you flip\take off?

Not on the grill but very good on a skillet.

Just a splash of oil in the skillet on high heat as if you were frying an egg. Dust the fillet with caribbean jerk seasonong both sides. Cook one side for about a min then flip it and repeat.
Takes about 2 to 3 minites for each peice.

    Enjoy
My mouth is watering just talking about it. very good!!!

Filet the meat from the fish but leave scales and skin on. Season how you want and put on grill scale side down. The meat peels right of the skin. No fuss no mess

Never have been able to get it right on wires. I go with aluminum foil on the grill. Still get the flavor plus filets stay intact. Scales on ain't bad, but makes a mess on a plate.

Grill Pro fish cage. Spray cage with pam. Draw slabs thru virgin olive oil, sprinkle with Purdommes Cajun magic or blacken fish magic. Cook 4 min per side (depend on thickness) until edges of fillet slightly tan. Careful when removing fillets as they will sometimes stick. Remove immediately from the cage helps from not sticking. I use a spatula to release the fillets.

You can also marinate the slabs in spicy Italian salad dressing, sprinkle with fish magic and grill in the fish cage. You can get the cages at Wal Mart garden centers. Handy tool.

This isn't on the grill but has gotten rave reviews at my place. I spray a small amount of olive oil in a big skillet and turn the heat on 9 (electric), shake cajun seasoning on one side on all filets, place seasoned side down and season the other side. Cook til white comes up almost half way and turn, only once. As they finish cooking and start to fall apart easy, chop them up with the spatula and use them in soft shell taco's. Took me about 20 minutes to feed us all and had no leftovers. Quick, easy to cook, easy to clean up, and happy campers with full stomachs. My wife was out of town and says the principle of fish taco's is just wrong on so many levels, but she hasn't tried em yet.

I like to season the filets with favorite seasoning (strawberrys rub) then wrap in aluminum foil with a stick of butter. Then turn grill on high and put in for 5-10 minutes or cook until white.
