    Default November First

The morning was cool, all of 32 degrees, when I slid the boat off the trailer. JD is a friend and an avid fly fisherman who's company I don't get to enjoy near often enough in my boat. The last time was about 2 1/2 years ago. I've been telling him for a long time about the fun of vertical jigging, and finally got the long rods in his hands. The fish were smarter than me as they didn't begin to bite til the sun got up a little. The fall colors were looking real good, and thankfully the wind wasn't terrible. Just enough to keep the boat moving. We used some 1/8th sickle jigs with different color Bobby Garlands for the day. We finished the day with 7 good fish from 11 to 13 1/2 inches that weighed very close to 8 1/2 lbs. I'd like to tell you I spent the day expounding my knowledge and showing my guest how it's done, but that wasn't the case. JD got 5 of the keepers, and I had 2. My 9' Wally Marshall Rods fit his hand well, it seems. I lost another nice one at boatside, but those are hard to fillet. A good time was had by the both of us, and with other things to do we pulled the boat at 10am, it had warmed to 62 degrees by the time we made the ramp. I hope to get together with him again soon, good friends are hard to find. Here's a couple of pics, and thanks for visiting with me today.
