    Default Fish Attractors

What is the TWRC policy on sinking brushpiles and man made fish attractors. I was wanting to put some brush and PVC fish attractors in KY. Lake and was womdering if I need a permit. Does anyone else get permits or do they just take their chances. I would hate to get fined or go to jail for sinking brush. If a permit is needed, how do you go about obtaining one?

Call TVA. They have the say so. I called and they just told me not to block navigation lanes or obstruct docks, etc.

What about non-TVA controlled waterways, such as Woods Reservoir? Would that be TWRA or USAF?

TVA told me you have to have permit, Paul Rister from KDFWR sent me an e-mail outlining the process that I can forward if you pm your e-mail address. In the end I decided some things are easier to ask for forgiveness than permission, there is a whole lot of unpermitted stuff that goes into the lake every year.

Another thing. TVA likes to charge 200 bucks for permits. Excavation, well 2ks. Wonder where this money goes.

Yep, I wouldn't give em any coordinates for where I actually intended to put anything. Paul said they wouldn't charge for fish attractor permits though.

I'm pretty sure Paul can only speak for what happens on the KY side of the lake.

I was, also, under the impression that a permit was needed to place structure in certain KY waters ... and that the coords were also needed, and placed on the following issue of any map of that lake that was put out by the KDFWR (or state ?). That's why I think a lot of people don't follow the permit rule, as it's their labor & $$ that's being given away to the public. I think people would probably pay for a permit, if they were allowed to keep the location from becoming public knowledge. And KDFWR would still benefit from the $$ & from not having to spend their own $$ to keep up the "community" brushpiles.

Honestly, I can't remember the last time I fished around a buoy marked brushpile, where there was ANYTHING below the buoy ... on lakes in KY & TENN !! Doh

    ... cp
