Default Wed Evening with my Boy

Chase and I do a little better each time we go out. If we could get a week of sub 90's again, I think it would really turn on.

This was our best outing yet as a Father/Son team.

That's a great looking mess of fish guys. I saw the video of Chase shooting docks. That boy has the "touch"!

Gkidd ... are there ANY marinas on Ft Loudoun Lake, that have cabins/motel rooms to stay in ?? All my research has come up with "zero" !!
Can't very well convince my fishing partners to consider it, if we'd have to stay somewhere miles away from the lake. Doh

Campgrounds won't cut it, as we're all geezers that are used to the accommodations of a cabin or motel room (kitchen/TV/AC/heat/real beds) Rofl

You guys are killin me Doh Rofl

How much would it cost me to have you two travel down to Watts Bar & shoot some docks ?? I've been there every Fall (Oct), for years, when the Black Crappie should be following the Shad back into the creeks (& under the docks) ... and most of my trips have come up "nearly empty". Could I possibly be waiting TOO LATE, and the Black Crappie have already come & gone ??

Seriously ... back when I fished the Fall tournies (2000-2004) at Watts Bar, we fished in mid to late Oct ... and the majority of fish were caught shooting docks, and they were mostly Black Crappie. I'm just trying to figure out if it's just me, if the lake conditions have changed in the last half dozen years, if the weather conditions are THAT much different over the last 6yrs, or what

You keep reporting on your trips Thumbs Up .... 'cause every bit of info I can get is useful !! And thanks for these reports Hands Clapping

    CP,

Pay? Lol Sir, we would come to watts bar on an invitation. Im not sure we could provide more than a bit of company. I started shooting last fall and actually would consider that the beginning of my crappie fishing addiction. I had went on a couple of trips to Wiess with some friends at church but never really started fishing for crappie locally until I started camping last fall.

Anyhow...I also started logging my trips so my son would have something to reference later in life. A brief overview of the logs show that we started fishing the 1st weekend of September on Tellico with minnows and had a couple good trips. My buddy took me over to Loudon and showed me how to shoot docks and that was all I needed to be hooked. Throughout the entire month on october last year I went and caught fish after fish shooting.

So this year after youth baseball was winding down we decided to try our luck shooting...just for kicks. The pics in this forum area show the results. Im no expert by any means but I really think if it will ever cool down, I will be able to take Chase and get his 1st 15-limit.

I guess after saying all that....it would be my opinion that since watts bar is 1 dam below Loudon, surely October would be just as productive there.

Also Chase and I would jump at any opportunity to meet up with a fellow forum fisherman.

You just keep reporting on your Sept/Oct dock shooting trips .... and I may have to seriously consider giving Loudon a try this Fall !!

Like you, I would think that WB would be good in Oct, like it was several years ago ... but, something's gone seriously wrong on most of the last few years trips. I think I'll have to have a look-see at what Loudon has to offer, so I might be PM'ing you for some info, or posting questions on this forum.

I'm also curious as to why you're catching Black Crappie - this early in the year, in 85deg water.

Also ... if it were just me making the trip, I'd be happy to meet up with you & Chase on Loudon, and let y'all school me on how it's done there. But, normally there's 3 or 4 of us ... and they might take a bit of convincing to try a completely new lake. However, if you & Chase keep knockin'em out over the next few weeks, and keep those reports/pics coming ... that might go a long way towards us making a change of scenery.
