Gabowman do you see the same thing going into fall?
CK, been talking to biologist recently about the importance of aquatic bugs to crappie’s diet. I’m working on a mayfly nymph jig prototype right now. I think it will be great fished in standing timber.

CK, Ive only noticed the grass shrimp in April/May of the year. From all the shells I saw the other day I have my suspicions the grass shrimp are about gone for this year. Gonna have to find out what they will be eating next.

The mayflies are starting to show up at Clarks Hill already. Last weekend I caught several decent crappie from my dock under the light and a few mayflies were flying around. If they landed in the water for more than a few seconds they got diving lessons! When they're thick, the fishing with light jigs and light colors is AWESOME!

For us single pole crappie fisherman I am starting to try this jig with 1/32nd this time of year. It is when the Bobby Garlands, Stump Bugs, 1Pan Assains or crappie magnets not working. What do you think Gabowman something close to shrimp or mayfly?

    Hellcat baits-
    Chart Blake flake
    Chart blue silver
    Antifreez
    Watremelon Red flake
    Smoke Black
Also got some solid colors I will try

Most likely an overkill but that is what I do. Over think things to tweak it.
Hard for me to just go out and enjoy God's creation. Once a while I do that but most of time I push myself.

Take a light jig and float them down above them. I also going to try to float them down on a slip bopper with a 1/ 64 jig on a calmer day just for fun.

I am not about numbers of fish caught but the thrill of one pole and trick that fish into biting.

I tried some Jigs I had with those colors best I could match Tuesday afternoon. I caught a lot of crappie on them still have to wade through small fish to get a few keepers.

Tackleboat, I got more jigs than I need. Thank you for your offer. If I ever get down to a couple, I'll holler out!
I need to get busy and make up some for later use!
