    Default Debunking Myths

I’m all the time reading or watching video for info. Some things I’ve tried and found they didn’t works for me. Hope y’all will share some. Gabowman posting about the Mud got me to thinking which is dangerous without the proper equipment. Ive hear Pro Crappie fishermen say they search for the muddiest water. Usually they are after White Crappie. I haven’t ever did better in muddy water over stained or clear. Another tip I hear that never works for me is Down Sizing the bait. Sometimes I think the more I watch the less I know. Worked about the same way when I deer hunted and played golf. Better to just go out and play the hand you’re dealed

I think downsizing the bait works especially if the Crappie or any fish for that matter are short striking. Shortening the bait gets their mouths closer to the hook.

I believe small baits work best when the predominant forage at the time is small. Just after a shad spawn. Small baits would be great. Then increase size as the forage grows bigger

I think you’re right, I’m not saying small baits don’t catch fish. I’ve caught plenty on them. Just when I’m using B. Garlands and can’t get bit, changing to a small hasn’t helped me. When the bite is tuff instead of switching size and color I usually move on and hunt active fish, sometimes I’ll try the inactive fish later.

I have this one dock I shoot. The lake bottom under the dock is covered in Christmas trees. The standard pattern for that dock was catch one or two fish and they would shut down on you. A color change was good for another 1 or 2 fish. I put on a itty bit slab huntr on and for an hour I hammered the fish out from under that dock. The size change really got to them.

I’ve had downsizing be the ticket as well. And sometimes even that doesn’t work. But I’m usually pretty quick to give it a try.

It had it's window of a few weeks where it was on fire for the small baits. Then they were wanting a bigger bait again. On the flip side. The big Slab HuntRs can have the same effect when the forage is running bigger

I've tried the muddy water that you could just see mud swirls, no visibility, and never did much good. That said...now 3" visibility and it was ON!

I fished the rock saturday. Creek I was in had about 1-2 inch visibility. You had to sneak up on them and bang them on the head a few times with the jig but once you got their attention, they smacked it.
