I employ so many different ways to catch them, it can be mind boggling sometimes. I used to be a hardcore tournament guy, now i rarely fish bass tournaments at all. However, i still love to bass fish more than any other species. Right now, a lot of the bass are in late pre-spawn and spawning mode. They are on secondary points and backs of coves and pockets. Lots of small fish are right up on the bank, with the bigger females 5-8' under docks and on wood cover. We caught them on square bill shallow diving crankbaits and swimbaits mostly. A few did come on a senko fished wacky style also. It wont be long until the fluke and topwater bites cranks up. Then everyone will be running all over the points , climbing on top of each other trying to get there first. It can be the frustrating time of year to deal with heavy fishing pressure, but it can be super fun if you are lucky enough to stop on the right point at the right time! I like to catch crappie too, but i havent gotten the hang of it as good as i had hoped by now. Seems simple, but rarely is. I have only gotten a limit of crappie a few times in the last few years.
