    Default Lake Moultrie Shellcrackers


    Im Looking for someone to guide me on Lake Moultrie to catch shellcrackers. More interested in teqnigues and what im looking for. Its very different than upstate lakes. Thanks.

    I haven't fished either Moultrie or Marion, this year but most of the folks fish up against the banks, for me one thing needed for Shell cracker, is a stick up or tree trunk, or cypress knees @ were they bed. All may not agree, but if you find shallow water 3' or less and stickups... you can see what you are catching... reeds are almost as good as said wood.
    If you don't get hung every-once-n-a-while you ain't jigg'n it right..:D

    I agree, tight grouped cypress trees and saw grass are your best bets on Santee. You don’t need much water, but you will need thick cover.

    Shellcrackers are fairly simple fish, not as complex as the crappies. Easiest way to find shellcracker are find some type of cover as stated above. 9 times out of ten, if you can smell them, they are around there somewhere. small hook, split shot and a small cork.'
    drop it in different spots, move fast. If they don't hit it a soon as it hits the water, move on. Just my way of finding them. Hope this helps!!

    Get in touch with blacks camp on the lower end of the canal and see if they can do it or recommend someone
