This weekend was my last free weekend to get out on the water for a while so we took full advantage. Friday afternoon, got off work and the wife already had the boat packed and ready. Initially, went longling (and shooting docks) for crappies anywhere from 8-20 FOW. No luck at all. Decided to tightline some brush in 30 FOW and added catfish rods to the spread. First fish was a nice little 3 lb channel cat that the wife had fun catching. 5 minutes later one of the 10' rods goes down, drag starts singing......here we go again. A big blue on light tackle. Nursed/Fought him for almost 10 minutes including having to chase him with the trolling motor. Finally, got him to the boat. 31" long and just over 20 lbs!!!
Saturday morning got out early for a couple hours, mainly targeting cats. Again 30-40 FOW, water temp 52, working structure and humps just off the main channel. Got a nice hookup early. Big girl dumped a 5500 ambassador before coming to the boat. No pictures of her, since it was raining and my phone was in the dry bag. She went 28" long and looked full of eggs so she went back in.
Ventured to Wateree on Sunday. Fished in that mudhole for about 3 hours and managed a small flathead in 18FOW. Released him to hopefully grow to be monster one day.
Total for the weekend: 1 channel, 2 blues, 1 flathead, several perch.
