CK Wants to go to the Dark Side
Well summertime fishing in lake Wylie can be tough both heat and fishing. So I want to expand my options and join up on some of the night stalks. I hate fishing Saturdays so Friday nights are a great option.So I am asking for help on equipment.
I have two new deep cycle evermaxx 29 batteries dedicated to a 12 volt trolling motor so I think I am good for night accessories powering.
I have one anchor. Have plenty of poles and tackle. I have a good live tank for bait.
My main concern are the lights in the water. I am sure technology has changed in the last few years. Any advice on lights in water and another accessories I cant think off?

CK you will need another anchor. Because you need to anchor off the bow and stern of your boat so the wind and current will not be able to swing you around.

Yeah, two anchors needed. You can light up the water several ways: Star fire submersible and Hydro glow you can order on line or get a 12 volt inverter cheap at Lowe's and run a 26 watt curly bulb in a clamp on reflector like the painters use over the side of your boat. Fish don't care which one you use. You want it bright enough to draw bait to the light. If you fish with someone else you'll need to use at least 2 lights one in front of each of you or share one in between the 2 of you. Set up on a flat bottom not over brush or you'll be hung up all the time. You can set up on a hump or a ledge and pull fish in to you. 18 to 25 foot is usually good depth. Remember find the depth they like and hang on.

Dont forget the rod holders....plenty for whomever is fishing. I had 8 off the bow and 8 off the stern but before setting up that way me and Allen always did just as good fishing 4 rods each off the same side of the boat using two submersibles. I changed to accomodate day time spider rigging so that was why we had 8 each off the front and back. Dont forget the thermacell this time of the year and if youre gonna night fish this winter look up a "golf cart heater" on the 'net. Lastly.....wery LIGHT rod tips work best. Sometimes the only bite will be that the fish pick UP a minner and you NEED to see this on the rod tips.

Cr I use a BBQ light for tying hooks and head lamp for everything else. Plus the leds on the outside to light up the rods and line

Go online and order you some led waterproof string lights. I have mine mounted in 1/2 Inch aluminum channel and then mounted on the outside of the boat under the rub rail. This puts out enough light to see the rods. You can go on YouTube and find videos of how to make underwater lights for around $30.00 each. The alumi glow lights are pricy. On the string lights get the 5050 size. Hope this heips
