It is a good idea though.

I just installed one on a triton aluminum a couple months ago. I cut the main vertical brace into but it still doesn't flex. I put a old basketball under the tray and inflated it just for good measure but I didn't need it. The picture of below deck is upside down but the brace in the middle with the four welds is gone.

Try this, it's on a 185 but pretty close to what you have. Also Basstrackeroptimax on this board has done a ton of work and mods to trackers.

Thanks for the advice and picture Judson1. Never thought about the basketball. It is good to know that your deck does not give in that area. My cross brace is over the storage compartment, about 2 inches back. And, the front of the deck rests on the front cross brace. I don't know why Tracker doesnot recommend doing this.

Cray, I thank you for your insight and the link. I am a member there, but it has been a long time since I was on it so I forgot my password and can't look at the pictures right now. I am aware I would have to cut out the storage as did that man. I have taken pictures underneath the deck and nothing there until the storage compartment. Another old member of Crappie.com has the same boat I have. In order to avoid cutting the storage compartment, he cut out a little of the front console. But his was carpeted and mine is plastic. I had rather cut the storage compartment.

Thanks for all the help and advice. I have decided I will do this. Got some tips from another forum from one who has a similar boat (just 1 foot longer). He has had no trouble, no weakening or dipping of the deck. Just gotta measure and make sure of the measurement before I cut. Can't believe I am going to cut a hole in the deck of my boat. But I believe my back and knees will thank me. 70 years makes a difference in the bones when fishing all day!
