Posted thread on the crappie structure site but never got a response. Is it harmful to make condos out of old pressure treated wood that hasn't been stained or painted ? I have a bunch of it.

they build docks out of it every day. Every time it rains it washes off the dock in the water. Some of my best docks that i shoot and catch so many crappie out from under are made with treated wood.

I wouldn't recommend new fresh treated lumber but if it is old I don't think it would hurt anything.

Not saying you can but won't it take a lot of blocks to sink it and make it stay on bottom?I don't see why not, a lot of docks have broke off and sunk and it don't seem to hurt anything. It's not going to leave a oil slick or be seeping out anything.

No it's old wood. 16 years old as a matter of fact. Tore down an old deck, built a new one. I can either haul it to the dump, burn it or let crappie live around it. I have a way to keep it on the bottom. I had seen comments on here before discouraging treated wood but like most of you, have caught many many crappie off of wooden docks sunken & above water.
