Should I get the correct six for the boat or larger. One or 2.
I drift fished Santee once with a guide he had 2 from and back and drifted sideways across the lake. It worked really well till we got a big Cat then it was time to move :-(

Most of the time one sock will do the job but have two just on case plus have the rigging to run them single of double. Brett you will only use them going with the wind and control the boat with your trolling motor like Keith said. Pull them in with going into the wind. I only let my socks out around 8' or so. If they don't work it is time to get off the lake anyways!!!! LOL Academy has them as a good price also. Heck I even have one for my kayak

After looking at the web site and reading the Q&A I think 2 socks would help keep me straight the toon is 22ft i'm thinking 2 of the 56" size(18-26ft)
After all it's only money. :-)

Just an FYI to maybe save someone a trip but the Cabelas store in Augusta does not have them stocked. They used to but said they were not selling so they pulled them out. They are on sale now but will have to order them online.

I have one from Cabelas that I bought eons ago and don't remember ever using it. I was planning to go Thursday and looking at the wind forecast, I may get my chance.

If the wind is strong enough for two socks I set 'em like this. If only one sock is needed to make the trolling motor pull then it is directly behind the motor so the boat isnt getting pulled one sided.

I got 3 of them, Get one bigger than what it calls for, My boat is 18 ft, I got 2- 30 inchers and a 54 incher, sometime I use all 3, in 15 to 20 mph wind I need all 3 to slow down to .5 mph. I can fish when everyone else had to go home.

Yeh I was thinking I need to rig up something so I can center it behind the motor.

Them look just like my 2, I run one on each out side corner, and put the big one in the middle on a longer rod, And keep on fishing.
