Thread: Boat repaired

Well I got my boat back from the shop today. From the time I brought it home from the shop last time and me and Ray used it somebody decided to pour about a gallon of water in the gas tank. That was why it would not crank. I will put some type of lock on both boats tomorrow and hopefully stop that crap. Really pisses me off. That is what happens when you live close to meth heads. Don

Glad you found out what the problem was. Nothing wrong with adding locking gas caps, especially this day and time.

Don, are you sure that's what happened. Did it get in there at the shop or at your house. why would someone want to put a gallon of water in there. Who had access to the boat other than the shop and at your house. Maybe he left something not connected and used that water bit to cover his behind. Just wondering.

Mark it was the tracker. Gerald the dealer I took it to is smiths 66 and marine in Orangeburg. I have known this owner for over 50 years and also worked there back in the early 80s for a couple years. I would guarantee that they would not do anything dishonest that is why it went to them. I would trust my life to them. I live to close to a bunch of dope dealing meth heads that have been in prison, the youngest is in there now. This is not the first time it has happened and they have stole gas from me before. It was either done for spite or they were trying to steal gas and could not get any and decided to put some water in the tank. The last time it happened I confronted the oldest son and told him quite plainly that I would kill him if I caught him on my property. I am going to set out some trail cameras and see what happens. Back to the dealer what would they have to hide. I originally took the boat to them because it would not crank. They replaced the switch and put new plugs in it and that was what I was charged for. This time they drained and flushed the carbs, drained and flushed the gas tank put in a new fuel pump and put 12 gals gas in if. That was what I paid for. If I go out tomorrow and it don't crank I want blame them. They also put a new sender in the fuel tank that I just paid another dealer to do back in December, the sender they took out was the one from the factor so this dealer and I will have a talking tomorrow. That showed me there are crooks out there but I can guarantee you smith 66 and marine is not one. Don

don, invest in a water separating filter it will pull the water out of your fuel and filter he fuel too.

Don I hate to hear of the problem they found it to be. I know how bad it can get living close to troubled people. Sounds like you have a good plan to fix it from happening again. Good luck going back to the lake, I'm sure you will have a better day as far as the boat goes.

I too had a experience with water in my tank. My boat has 2 different tanks I run one out before ever switching and this time the day before I filled the empty tank at the mobel station in Gaston. Well to make a long story short I payed for 23 gals---- 6 of which was water. Sinkermaker is right though Smiths 66's in Orangeburg is good folks. I too can give you a list of some to stay away from @ columbia though. I Think Its from all the water and the lay of the land where the tanks are (in the ground).
