[QUOTE=STUMP HUNTER;3029546]If y'all will go back and read what I wrote you will see I didn't attack Kit, I just made a statement about what I felt about what was said. As far as I know I have always tried to be helpful here on CDC but that can end tonight.[/QUOTEus]

No one is questioning your integrity...certainly not me, You certainly help alot of us, but we all have at some point in time said something we regret or simply didnt come out right........after all we are all human..........

Guys, I just have caught up reading all the posts concerned and I can see it both ways. I've placed alot of brush in the past and can contest to the work involved, not to even mention the mess you have in your boat afterwards. I will also say that if I had side scan and found brushpiles I'd waypoint them for fishing on another given day. BUT, that being said, if brushpile fishing was my cvup of tea then I wouldnt sit back and wait for others to place piles. As stated, I'd waypoint piles I found but I'd also be placing my own piles where I wanted them to be too. The last time the lakes got low I waypointed every brushpile I could find in the creeks I fished. I even made trips to the lake just to mark those piles. My reason for wanting to know where those piles is ALOT different from most though. I want to know where theyre at so I WONT be longlining all 14 of my jigs across them getting all hung up. I just dont have the patience anymore for sitting still brushpile fishing.

I guess I got caught in the middle on this issue. I have been a member here for several years and have fished with several of the guys on here and have found all to be willing to help out. So I will tell you how I knew Kit and what I knew about him. I am sure if he could he would have stated the brush pile issue differently as it did ruffle some feathers.
Anyway, I was trying to find a plumber to help replace a sink in our bathroom. I asked one of my buddies here if he knew of one and he said he used Kit Carson. Kit had only been on the forum for a month or two, but I wondered what the odds were that there were two Kit Carsons in Lexington, so I PM'ed him and asked. He said it was him, but he had retired. However he said he would be glad to look at what I was doing and help me do it. Well he ended up doing about 90% of the work and I had a hard time getting him to even let me pay him for his gas and parts. He also took my Lake Murray map and marked all the spots where he had good luck fishing. My wife and I found him to be gracious and willing to help any way he could.
I also know he took one of our members, another stranger, fishing when he was recovering from surgery and could not manage a boat by himself.
So that is the man I knew, though only briefly, because I have not been able to contact him again.
I think the important thing to take away from all this is to be careful about how things might be taken before you say them. No one wants to put in all the work and have someone else enjoy the fruits of their labor. But also, take things with a grain of salt. As someone else stated, we probably all have said things we wish we had not, especially if you been married almost 50 years like me.
So we move on and try to learn from our mistakes and several were made here, none of which can be redone. We have a great bunch of guys on here, not just SC, but all over. Just look at the response to the member who needed financial help with this drug bills. A number of us from SC responded as well as all across the forum. Outside of maybe a church, I don't know where you would see that.
So keep on with the good things we do here and try to put things that bothered you in the past. Life is too short to let stuff like that keep you from enjoying the fellowship of good friends, especially if they happen to be fisherman.
    See you on the water.

I'm very offended that so many folks are getting offended over this. I mean, it's offensive! Next thing you know, we won't be able to fly the Confederate Battle Flag here on SC CDC! Oh and let me tell you what I'm really offended by. That God's perfect symbol to us, The Rainbow, has been perverted into the symbol it is today! I'm so offended I may just quit fishing.....prob not!!!

Opinions are like (fill in blank). Being able to express them is what makes our nation great, but it's also what breaks us down if we carry it beyond the limits set for our own good. Let's just get back to the family oriented fishing community I've grown to love in this site!

Any lake or public waterway is part of the public domain that can be used freely by any person in accordance with law and/or for the purposes for which it was made available to the public. Granted, many of us as anglers try to do things to improve the quality of the resource by placing brushpiles and/or by creating other fish attracting features for what we believe is the overall good of the resource (and more power to those who are ambitious enough to do so). However, when you place such brushpiles and/or other fish attracting features: One would do better to understand that [those features too] become part of that same public domain. While I too am and always have been a staunch proponent of everyone working for the fruits of the harvest: I personally don't believe under any circumstances does any such extra effort or placement of brush and/or other fish attracting features reverse this principle no matter what anyone's opinion may be or what or how many arguments of ethics and/or good manners he may attempt to make to the contrary.

No matter how people learn of these fish attracting / holding features... or who may have placed them there.... they're going to use them for their own benefit to catch more fish. IT'S JUST WHAT THEY DO!!!!

How did this turn into the ones that place brush didn't want others to fish them? Seems people that don't know what this is about wants to stick their .02 into something they shouldn't.

This is about fishing etiquette - nothing else. What really amazes me is how fast people you through were friends will throw you under the bus. Shame on all of you! I'm done with this site and you bunch of Hippocrates! Never thought the South Carolina board would turn into what it has.

Ronnie, I don't believe anyone that knows you thinks you are anything but a stand up guy willing to help anyone you can. I know you certainly have been to me. Without your help at the Crappiefest I doubt I would have caught a fish because I had never fished either lake. Furthermore without your hard work we would not even have a crappiefest. Some of you may not know that Ronnie and Butch do 90% of the work that goes into putting them on.
It would be a tragedy to lose two good folks over this issue. It is my hope that everyone has said their piece and we can move on. We are all better than this.

Ronnie I am asking you not to leave the sight and continue to do what you have always done for it. This is just an example how things can get screwed up on a post and be totally turned around. Don
