Brett I have used some and I don't see any difference in the catches. It looks good in pictures

thought it might be better cast off away from your lights, on a float?

Doesn't glow long enough to do any good. It is made to use in the day time where the sun can charge it up between cast. I'm not sure it even holds up long in the day time either, haven't been impressed with it enough to spend much time with it.
