I am new to the forum, but Lake Murray is my home lake, I fish it three days a week. Long days daylight to dark and then gripe because it gets dark. Lol!
Water temp is on the surface always a bit higher, takes a bit more time for the wind and elements to mix it all up and send the message to the fish......hey time to spawn. It is just about there at around 65.9 degrees before the sun warms the surface a bit.
In that mid part of the lake look for crappie around docks and under docks. Learn to shoot docks and you will have lots of fun. Find the brush piles in that area also and fish a jig above the crappie over the brush. If you like to flat line troll go on up around the corner to Buffalo creek, all the way to the back and you will find lots of crappie in open water. I used to do that, now I shoot docks all the time. Even in the summer, you just look for deeper docks close to deep water and the crappie will be there. It is safe to say this as most folks get real frustrated trying to shoot docks, it does take some practice. And lots of jigs Lol!
