You are so right about that. I have and also fished for them in Lajes Field Azores. I also caught sheephead on salted chicken breast cut into chunks about 1 inch cubes. I used a popping cork with a piece of lead attached and fished it in the blue bubbled water in the ocean as it slapped up on the cliffs and rushed out. The waves would leave the bubbles in a cut in the volcanic rock and sheephead always hung out around these spots. I found this out by watching the locals and it was on after that. I don't know who introduced raw chicken to the sheephead but the locals there used it and it worked. It was cured by salting it down and refrigerating it 24 hours. It stayed on the hook pretty good. I guess if you can catch brim and catfish on hot dogs and bread anything could work!
