If it was just a gimmick they would have been out of business a long time ago. The original co started back in the late 80's and here latley in last 3-4-5 years Kevin Vandam bought them out. Ton's of them sold to the Bass guys. The only thing I know about them for Crappie fishing is what a guy I used to do business with told me. His brother who was a big bass fisherman bought one of the originals. Guy I knew was a crappie fisherman. They took it on a couple of trips crappie fishing and the guy I knew was so impressed he bought one for his boat. Don't know how much they are now but back then they were just over 700.00. And that was quite a investment for him at the time.

However, the striper guides swear they can call up stripers by banging a pole on the bottom of the boat. This is when the stripers are down 50 feet or more. They claim the vibrations mimic schools of shad being hit by predator fish and they come up to investigate.
I actually saw a fishing program where they were on Clark Hill I think and did that and you could see the stripers on the DF coming up from the depth. I think it was Allen Warren Outdoors.
Never tried it myself.Might be a bunch of Hooey.

Things have come a long way and we know they can hear of feel sounds. The units now are 399 and the mini 135, heck someone need to do some testing and share the info. I'll do the testing if someone want to buy one

This "thumping" for stripers works! I've seen it in action with my own two eyes. This past Sunday I fished with a friend down around the dam for stripers. We would mark a fish or two around humps and throw a marker buoy out to mark the spot. We'd set up shop in close proximity to the marker buoy and he'd start banging on the bottom of his fiberglass boat with a pole. The depthfinder would start out relatively blank and when he'd start bumping fish would start shooting across the screen. It definitely brought the stripers in!
Hooking up every chance I get!
