are you wanting the best poles or the best price on the poles that could be a big difference in how much moneys you wanting to spend !!!!

Do not want to spend an arm and an leg for 4 14' wife still kind of upset about the new HB 999. But here again I do not want to buy trash and have to buy it twice.

I think a lot depends on how deep you are fishing. If you are in 4 to 8 FOW then yes, maybe the 10ft rod would be close enough to the TM and boat to spook some, but if you are in 10 to 30 FOW or more, I personally don't think the 10 ft. is a problem. Having several different lengths, however,does help disperse the lines so tangles are minimized.

I feel 14 foot poles are the best all around length for tight lining, You could get by with 12's but not for the wide range of depths fished. Many will have opinions on this, but my personnel preference is the Wally Marshal Tight Specials. Some will think these are too heavy. That's the reason I do like them. I like to swing my fish in the boat when feasible, these poles can handle that. They're also stiff enough to handle big cats and striper if they choose to bite. The stiffer poles also reduce line tangles when a fish hits sideways, by not giving too much. Some will also say that limber poles will allow you to see more bites, again I disagree. The 14 foot poles are long enough that even the lightest bite will be seen on the colored tip. When tight lining the fisherman needs to be focused on his poles anyways, if he is, few fish will be missed.

I have 14' southern crappie rods. These are the first long rods that I have ever owned so no experience with other rods. I have had no problem with them. They are durable and affordable.

In my experience 14"poles for better for tight lining but they are too long for jiging. 12' Poles can be used for tight lining and jigging.

Southern Crappie rods are best of all I have owned and won't break the bank.
