    Default 6-28 report

Hit Cane creek this morning about 7:30 fished till close to noon.I had a "new" first mate today.I think he did OK for his first trolling trip.
He watched the rods pretty good

He musta been paying attention, check out the first fish of the day.RJ,is licking his chops,,cant wait to fry it up!
Here he is showing the best one of today,,12.5"

    last ,the box shot

All in all the Lord blessed us with a good morning of catching a good many fish, kept a limit.
The temperature was a lot nicer than last weeks trip but the wind made it hard for trolling, caught most fish in 12 to 16 f o w pulling 1/16 oz sliders, same spots as last week and also like last week bigger fish came around 11:00.
Uncle Remus,,I hope you enjoy the dog pics!

Sam, you must have gotten them all yesterday cuz I took the wife an friend out this morning and only boated 36, biggest was 12+ inches the rest were smaller fish.I was cooler and overcast most of the morning. I think we have 8 keepers.
Don't you like the bait tank for keeping fish?

Great report Sam. Love your first mate. That pic of him licking his chops could go viral. Question on those sliders. I have some and learning this long lining. It would seem by design the slider will hold higher in the water column. Or the better question why do you choose the sliders? You are da man when it comes to long line.

CK,Im not sure about the Sliders running/holding higher in the water column.I almost exclusively use "sliders" at that lake.I started using them because of a particular color they had that kalins and others didnt have, and prettymuch bought other slider colors. Its amazing that the color of the jigs tail can make the difference of getting bit or getting nothing..A lot of stuff I use has chartruse tail,,.Ive tried solid chartruse jigs with NO luck(I guess too much of a good thing!)I do NOT use the "slider"jig head,I use the minnow head. Id be glad to have you on board one day for a 101 lesson,Im no expert by no means but I be glad to show you what I know and what works for me at that lake.In my opinion the speed is very important. The slider may take a wee bit more speed to make the tail swim,as compaired to the curl tail jigs..We use to use the old "HAL-FLY" jigs back in the 80 up there.I havent used one in many many years now.Im sure some of you (long in the tooth) guys like me have used the ol hal fly..
Ray,,Roscoe would have the upper hand over RJ,,,he hasnt got but one trip under his belt..He is small enough,I could let Ronnie take him on his kayak and train him for me !
ScooperDude,Im too lazy to fill up the bait tank and clean it out,,I just used the livewell and soon as I get home put the knife to em.I have kept them in there in the past
