I spent last week with my buds from Fla and Ga at the Stumphole cabin. My buddy Rick that was in Fla with me last month could not make it t his year, so I fished solo except for Weds when one of my Lexington buddies came down.
The bream and shellcrackers were biting pretty good, but we never caught more than 10 from one spot so we never hit a hot bed. Here is our catch from Monday.
.
Tuesday I ran down to Jack's Creek where I had fished last year with Inkdabber. My friends came down also but they fished for Shellcrackers around Persanti Island, which is always a good area for them. They are not crappie fisherman, can't even get them to try.
Anyway I managed a few crappie after I tried longling to no avail and got smart and swithed to a single jig pole with Rooty Tooty 309s like Ink told me to to do.
This was the first of 7 keepers plus 5 or 6 throwbacks.
I should have started earlier with the jigging because I did well for about and hour then the bite stopped around noon so I went back up the lake to fish for bream.
Here is my our mixed bag from Tuesday.
You can see the Crappie mixed in with the bream and shellcrackrs.
We spent Thursday on the porch watching the wind blow and heavy rain all day.
All in all a good trip and good to see friends that I only get to visit with once a year.
