Question Question for the I-Pilot guys

Had a gps signal problem with my I-pilot not too long after I got it a couple of years ago, somebody on here suggested I try some new batteries. After replacing the batteries, everything worked just fine until last week when I started getting no signal. So I went and dropped a load of $$$ on two new batteries and tried it out but got no signal again. It is the PDv2 factory I-pilot on a 24 volt system, I checked and cleaned all the connections and all batteries are fully charged. The only thing I haven't done is replaced the battery in the remote, could that be causing the problem? Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hey Ridgerunner go to Fishing electronics on forum and look at thread " IPilot Remote Issues". Looks like someone else had issues, hope this helps.

IMO the battery in the remote only turns the remote on and off. If it comes on when you mash a boutton then I think that battery is fine. Is the gps not working with the boat in the water or in your boat shed? Mine wont pick up GPS until I take it out of the boat barn. Just wondering...

I had trouble with my unit around a year ago and was about to buy a new control board. I had replaced the batteries in the remote two times so I thought it had to be the board. After talking to canepole a few times about it he said it was in the remote not the unit itself. I found it hard to believe being that I had replaced the batteries two times already with new ones each time, well it was the batteries. After changing them again the unit worked fine. I have since bought the new remote that replaced the old style.

Not saying this is your problem but do talk with someone in the know about these units.

If that doesnt fix it you could give Mark Danque at "The Crappie Hole" a call. He's an authorized MK repairman and should be able to help you.

Hi, I don't think your GPS signal showing up on the remote has anything to do with the battery in the remote. Usually the iPilot main electronics is located in the head of the V2 and others as well. The battery is supplied by the trolling motor battery so that must be up to standards.
If GPS signal, the little antenna like symbol in the upper left corner is not there it will be caused by the iPilot electronics in the head of the motor.
Even if this signal is missing you should still have regular auto pilot, indicated by the symbol but with no circle around it.
