I know I haven't posted much here of late, but the fishing has been phenomenal. Fishing alone, and paired with Tommy we've been putting the smack down on the fish. A few weeks back we continued to catch crappie and shellcracker jigging Rooty Tooty 309's in the shallow grass on the lower end of Santee. We then moved to long lining a coastal area water way, the bite was unbelievable, and we were the only crappie fishermen to be seen. Several trips were made, with hundreds of fish caught. We even found a couple of deep bream beds while trolling and boated some beautiful bream/shellcrackers along with crappie, bass, and hundreds more white perch. I tried to use 12 rods, that wasn't going happen. You couldn't reel the fish in fast enough. I dropped down to 8, and it was all you could handle. I recently made a trip back to Santee to try some brush, it was on like nothing you've ever seen. I had to just leave the fish biting to prevent getting in trouble. I love me some late spring/early summer action. To me, this is the best fishing of the whole year, and most crappie fishermen have already hung up their poles. I didn't take pictures every time out, but here are a few.
One of the better fish on the day.
One nice mess of fish.
A 5 pound bass caught trolling.
A nice brush pile crappie.
A better mess of fish.
