Default Santee and Coastal Area Report

I know I haven't posted much here of late, but the fishing has been phenomenal. Fishing alone, and paired with Tommy we've been putting the smack down on the fish. A few weeks back we continued to catch crappie and shellcracker jigging Rooty Tooty 309's in the shallow grass on the lower end of Santee. We then moved to long lining a coastal area water way, the bite was unbelievable, and we were the only crappie fishermen to be seen. Several trips were made, with hundreds of fish caught. We even found a couple of deep bream beds while trolling and boated some beautiful bream/shellcrackers along with crappie, bass, and hundreds more white perch. I tried to use 12 rods, that wasn't going happen. You couldn't reel the fish in fast enough. I dropped down to 8, and it was all you could handle. I recently made a trip back to Santee to try some brush, it was on like nothing you've ever seen. I had to just leave the fish biting to prevent getting in trouble. I love me some late spring/early summer action. To me, this is the best fishing of the whole year, and most crappie fishermen have already hung up their poles. I didn't take pictures every time out, but here are a few.

Hate I am going to miss you next week. My buddies at Stumphole said the Shellcrackers were really biting well. Hope I can find a few.

    Hey BoC,
I think Ink will be out of town next week. I will be at Stumphole Monday thru Friday. I have a Tracker with a 55 Yammy and the new SC CDC stickers on the side. I will fish Jacks Creek at least once so holler if you see me on the water.

Good to see you post again ink. Was wondering where you were and knew it wasn't from lack of going because this time of year is when y'all's style really shines. I just figured that new grand baby had you busy. Great catches for sure and how is the little man? About time for him to get a jig pole in his hand isn't it. I'm taking my 18 month old to sit on a brush pile for the first time Saturday. Can't wait.

I'm with you Ink....LOVING this time of the year for crappie fishing. Here the water is still in the low 70's and the fishing is fantastic and there's hardly anybody still chasing 'em. Just took my old neighbor yesterday and we burnt 'em up. It's the first time I've invited him to go and we planned on only fishing a few hours so he was delighted that I asked him. He took all the fish with him after getting back home and it took half the afternoon for him to get them all cleaned. Ha!

Stay after 'em buddy...........cause I know I will!
