The other day i was fishing in Lake Murray and I saw a boat with four fisherman they had like 8 poles out using these big rectangle floats. Never saw that before and they didn't catch any fish so I don't know how they work. Has anyone every used that method before?![]()

X2 on the planer boards
Matt, were they absolutely still?? I agree with the others that they were using planer boards and some are now using them for crappie. There is an article in the new copy of Crappie Angler(got mine today) about that method.
Reason I asked if they were sitting still is that most folk troll really slow for crappie and with planers I suspect they were barely moving. If they were in fact sitting anchored in one spot, I got no idea what they were doing and it is possible they didn't either.

Any luck on murry headed down in the morning
May have been cut bait fishing and anchored up. Some guys use big styrofoam floats to mark the edges of what they are trying to fish (treeline, etc). Also put out markers to "encourage" other boats to keep distance.
