Thread: Camping on Wateree Help

When I lived in sc while in Air Force stayed a week at state park every march and April. That was ten years ago, but loved it. Was before I had a boat so use to sit on main channel side and catch catfish and if you fish in that little cove on the way in on right hand side use to catch some crappie. If you have boat and long line head towards the damn and when you get near Air Force cabins fish the coves from there to the damn for crappie.

State park is a great place to stay. Brother has been there all week. He stays there at least 3 times a year. If you got a boat head up towards Cedar Creek. The stripers should be on the move that way.Cut bait and live shad will be the ticket on them. The cats are always hungry. Look for em in shallower water than you might think they are. Crappie should be turning on over the lake if the weather will stabilize for a bit. Good Luck and take plenty of pictures for us.

Thanks guys! No boat, will be looking to fish near where we are staying. A mess of catfish sound like the target. Any reports of them chewing lately?

Also does anyone know if you can fish there without camping during the day and where some good spots for cats are?

On down past the State Park is Dutchman's Creek bridge with a fishing platform on it. Catch crappie, itty bitty perch, and the usual cats.
