I got a big chest freezer I want to convert to a bait tank. Change out the thermostat and plug it in during the summer. Should work just need to figure out the pump and your pics aren't showing up on my end but I will think of something

Go go to pet store Ray, they sale an additive that removes the chorine from the water making it safe for aquarium fish and minnows

I could keep about a pound going if I had a decent water supply.

Think of this project as a very big aquarium. Look online for a biological filter set up. If not you will be spending a lot of money on your water changes. Unless u are using well water. The filter is cheap and easy to make. Pet store has all the chemicals you will need. If u want it cheaper go to places that sale yard pond stuff. I've been running 500gal tanks with a bio filter in my shop for over 10 years. Mostly for gizzard shad. Anything I can help with, just ask. I will try to help.

Thanks Tim, I managed to avoid any aquarium experience when my kids were growing up so I did not know they sold it. I am only talking about keeping them from one week to possibly 3 weeks so not a big undertaking. I just hate buying a 1/2 lb and dumping half of them in the trash since we can't put them in the lake.

Good looking tank. It should be fine until hot weather and by then it's tough on everybody that keeps minners.

I use city water, let it set over night and haven't had any problems. I run two tanks side by side, one with the minnows in it and the other piped to it. I also use a pool filter only having to run it once a week for an hour. I keep air going to the tanks all the time.
