I absolutely love those white perch, but I often find huge schools, stay on them for long periods of time, and then arrive one day to find the cupboard completely bare!
I'm sure there are external factors at work (wind, temps, barometric pressure) coupled with relocations of the bait schools those fish depend on.
On Clarks Hill, they were an "every trip sure bet" until we got 5 inches of rain and buckets of mud and debris in the very creeks they had decided to spend their fall/winter.
But they are still there and still biting. I discovered this today when I spoke to a fisherman who told me he had a great trip recently but was catching them out of 45-50 ft of water! (And I was really shocked when he told me he had an awesome February last year loading em up in SEVENTY (70!) ft of water! No wonder I can't find em! I'm looking in the wrong places!!
