    Default Murray Perch Jerkin'

Got out on the water both Saturday and Sunday morning this past week for some good ole' fashioned perch jerkin'. We fished around midlake both days and followed birds and bait around. We fished in 50-60 FOW both days and man did we have fun!

I didn't keep an exact count of the number of fish we caught but I know it had to be in excess of 200 for both days Saturday morning started off COLD in the mid 20s, but the fish were ripe for the picking when we set down in our spot. There were 58 nice sized perch and 1 10 lb cat fish kept. Sunday was a tad bit warmer but passing rain showers made for another brutal morning. Once again, the fish did not disappoint. We kept 44 perch, 3 catfish, and 2 bass. I had to "Bill Dance" my 3.5 lb bass a little bit and we got a good chuckle over how big he looked in the picture. We also caught 3-4 short stripers between both days. A few fish were caught using minnows, but the majority were caught bumping a Jiggin' Spoon off the bottom. As much as I want to check the crappie out it's hard to leave action packed fishing like Perch Jerkin'!!!!!!

Looks like a couple great days on the water. Catching fish makes the cold weather easier to handle.

Outstanding fishing! The perch bite is one reason I look forward to the winter months each year. (Of course I didn't count on heavy rains dumping mud into my favorite perch waters like it did this year!)

Great looking fish fry, and you're building memories to last a lifetime!

That looks like a lot of fun and a lot of good eats! I can't wait until I can go again.
You can't catch fish from the couch.

I've always heard that the more miserable the weather during the cold months the better the fishing is and youre proving that again. Congrats on two good days of fishing with some outstanding numbers of fish caught.

Good fishing Derrick. I just knew this cold weather would stack them up. Last year I never seemed to get cold enough but they are hot right now. Been too cold for me this week, but it is warming up, so lookout perch.
After I had a catfish or striper take a couple of my rigs, I started putting out a couple of striper rigs and last time out we got two 10 lb. cats and lost a couple more.
