Trim tab. I cut a piece of aluminum 2"x4" and mounted it in the picture location. It does not have to be perfectly centered with the shaft. As long as the the tab is basically parallel to the motor housing. I pop riveted the trim tab to an aluminum rt angle piece and used hose clamps to clamp it to the shaft. I notched out the ends of the angle so I could clamp it to the shaft. This is what they do to ships and boats with bad behavioral problems. My pondtoon has 2 trim tabs from the factory.
