These are good "utility rods." You can use them for about any style of crappie fishing in my opinion. They are light enough to jig with, limber enough to pull jigs with, and they work well for tightlining. If memory serves me correct, they are not very stiff so they won't hold a lot of weight for spidderriging, but I'd say they do well for weights up to 1/4 oz.

As with most things, you can spend the money and buy a more technique specific rod, but these will get the job done just fine!
