This pic was taken when I first put on the Gabriel Highjackers. Shortly afterwards I put dual Thrush mufflers on and ran the exhaust pipes out the sides (in front of each tire).
Ahh, you were that Nova guy with the "rake", I was the 68' Firebird guy with small "rake". You put that butt end too high and it just handles like junk! Mine had Cherry Bombs, and leaky hooker headers from bottoming out so often on the Chicago pot holed streets!

LOL !! .... yeah, ride in the front seat of my "raked" Nova & it was a pretty smooth ride, but ride in the back seat (& I hit a bump) then you gonna get bounced into the ceiling (just ask my buddies that rode back there).

Did all my street dragging before putting on the Highjackers & Thrush ... beat two Corvettes & a slightly out of tune 442

Once I did have them on ... "scratching off" would cause the rear end to try and get in front of the front end, without a bit of quick steering wheel manuevering. There may even be a bit of "bunny hopping" going on in the rear, as well. Didn't do any street dragging once those additions were on.

Funny story about drag racing one of the Corvettes : my GF & I were "challenged" by a guy & his GF (wife??) stoplight to stoplight for 3 stoplights. I beat him thru all three, but when he pulled up next to me on the third stoplight she was layin' hands all upside his head .... I never did figure out if she was mad that he was drag racing or because he lost !!

Pappy, talking about a jacked up nova wanting to trade ends. That’s exactly what I remember. A nice looking one with a jacked up rear tried to show me what, while going on the highway to merge, and all I seen was it spinning round and round doing about 55 mph. Those rakes looked good but with no weight back there and being so high, they handled like crappie!
