    why does one side ("left ) stay darker than the right side ? How to fix ?

    Is the outboard in the way.....try trimming up some and see if that fixes it.

    Transducer is tilted. Left side lower than right. Could be the transducer itself, the TM or the whole boat sitting unlevel. If you turn the TM to point straight back, if the left side stays dark it’s either boat or TM. If the right side is dark, it’s the transducer.

    I was gonna say the same thing as Catfan. If the boat leans enough it would cause this.

    I don't run Garmins, but my Lowrance works best when the transducer is parallel to the water's surface, fore, aft and side to side at whatever speed I scan most.

    It's not just your Garmin. My humminbird helix 12 does the same thing but not as bad. I would try making adjustments as mentioned above. I always have to trim my motor up a good bit as well.
