There'd be maybe 1 or 2 that would peck at the jigs (usually the smaller ones) and then 1 or 2 that would thump it pretty good. I even tried jighead/minnow under a float, which got me a couple fish, but also lost a couple (likely due to not being used to using a 10' rod and not setting the hook as hard as I should have).
We found ours in the same depth range (~20fow) and most biters were in the top 5fow. Water temps were in the mid 60's. Big difference from what my "guide" had experienced thru the prior week. He had to drop the jigs down thru the tree or just outside the tree, all the way to the bottom. And even though no fish were showing on the scope at the time the jigs were getting close to the bottom, all of a sudden one would show up on screen & attack the jig. He said it was almost like the fish were laying down on their side on the bottom & jumping up when the jig got close
Have you ever experienced anything like that ?? A fish just miraculously appears out of nowhere & jumps on your bait ???

    Yeah, Right !!

Paul ain't even sure where on the water he is half the time, unless we've been there a hunnert times (& he still might not remember)

I was fishing in someone else's boat (that has Livescope) on the trip I described, so he was the "guide" I was referring to.
