I have a Garmin 92SVP echo map plus. In demo mode I tried to mark a stump and it did not work. When I get on the water how do you mark a stump on side scan?

I don't have the plus, but the reg chirp. Use the arrows to put the cursor where you want and hit SELECT. Lotta folks hit MARK but that denotes the boat position, not the cursor. Often, the most accurate way to determine the best location of the cover is to go back over the area and select it with dv and get rid of the earlier waypoint. I cannot comment about the touchscreen possibilities. I'm sure a step by step description is in the manual. I know it is in mine.

The plus units don't have arrow keys. If you swipe down on the screen while in side view it will stop the screen from scrolling and place cursed lines on screen. You can then touch anywhere on the screen and it will mark a waypoint for that spot.
copied from BBC. Try this and see, should work.
skunked again LIKED above post

I didn't know about swiping down, thanks! Conversely, would you swipe up, to resume sonar?

Crm, don't forget you have to make that waypoint by touching the little tab that comes up in the top right corner of the screen. If you use the mark button at he bottom of the screen, it will mark the waypoint where the boat is sitting.
Again copied from bbc. I don't have touch myself so IDK the answer
