Default Hummingbird 797 unit using DI transducer from a 688 unit

Just upgraded my bow unit from an old 797 unit with SI to a Helix 10 unit with SI. Really pleased with the Helix. Decided to try the 797 up front of my boat where I had the 688 DI unit. Being all Hummingbirds all the cables matched, including the DI transducer from the 688. Now up front I'm getting great down image on my 797, not using the side imaging. May keep this setup. Rickie or anyone else have any experience using a di only transducer on a si unit? Any problems with using the 797 this way? Appreciate any input. Will try to get some snapshots next time I'm out. Thanks!

We have had good results running the HB DI xducers on the SI units ...

    http://www.crappie.com/crappie/side-...experimenting/

A few points for your Setup ...:

*Set the Beam Frequency (under the Sonar tab) to 200kHz ...because the XNT 9 DI T from your 688 does not support the 83kHz transmit frequency in the 797 ...

*Continue to use the "Compact Sidescan" selection for the "Connected Transducer" (under the Sonar tab) ...

*The SI image will not "look" correct ...
    a. The right side will show an image but it's from echo data straight down under the boat ...
    b. The left side will be blank because there is no left SI piezo in the XNT 9 DI T ...

Here are a couple of pictures from today. First is 997 unit using a DI transducer, 2nd image is DI from Helix using DI. I think the DI on the bow is giving me a nice picture even with a little wave action taken into account. Overall pretty happy with the Helix DI image as well. Last image is from the Helix SI, really pleased with it as well. Guess I'm a happy camper with my new toys!
