    Also good that these sonar units have GPS so you can stop the unit and put the cursor on the target(fish ,structure,etc.) that you see on the unit and then go back to where it was located. This takes some of the guesswork out of where targets(fish ,structure,etc.) are at.

    You guys have explained about as well as any diagram I could put together ...

    Scrat's addition of the folded paper and visualizing the cables meeting in the water column "fold" should help those trying to understand the SI water column ...

    Discussion and questions are still encouraged from anyone (we don't bash anyone trying to learn) ...
