Default Needs lots of help with identifying fish size with onix!!!!Thanks in advance!!!

Still have problems identifying fish size and ones to fish and not fish. Had onix for about 8 months and lots of time on water with it!!! Also best settings and frequency for best identification for chirp??? It's really getting frustrating not being able to know sizes of fish to target!! I also owned a 1198 for about 5 yrs now!!! All help or screen shots with onix would really be a big help!!!!

Are you needing help on the SI, or DI view specifically?

    Turn on Fish ID ...

HB Fish ID uses certain criteria to "guesstimate" the size of the fish by the size of the swim bladder return ...

*The smallest Fish ID symbol is "guesstimated" as a one pound fish ...
*The medium Fish ID symbol is "guesstimated" as a two pound fish ...
*The largest Fish ID symbol is "guesstimated" as a three pound fish ...

Not all returns meet the "guesstimate" criteria to be assigned a Fish ID symbol ...

So smaller returns without a Fish ID assigned will be smaller fish or bait ...

I USUALLY CAN TELL IF CRAPPIES ARE BIG ENOUGH TO STOP OR KEEP GOING,I HAVE A 859 DI AND A 1199, THE WAY I DO IT IS I GO BY THE FISH ON 859DI AND 1199 SI AND I HAVE THEM SET AT A CLOSE DISTANT THEN I WOULD STOP UNIT AND FISH AND WHEN I CATCH A FEW I WOULD LOOK AT THE UNIT TO SEE WHAT SIZE THE FISH ARE ON UNIT COMPARED TO WHAT I WAS CATCHING,NOW I DO NOT STOP IF THEY ARE SMALL,I MAKE SURE EACH TIME I LOOK AT FISH THAT UNITS ARE SET ABOUT THE SAME EACH TIME.I DO THIS ON BRUSHPILES AND UNDER DOCKS,I NEVER USE 2D OR FISH SYMBOLS TO TELL SIZE OF FISH,I MUCH RATHER INTERPRET THAN FOR UNIT TO DO IT FOR ME

DI SHOULD TELL YOU THE DIFFERENT BETWEEN SHADS AND CRAPPIES,CRAPPIES SHOULD HAVE A LITTLE MORE SEPERATION AND LITTLE BIGGER,UNLESS GRIZZARD SHAD

One thing that I have found that really helps is to normally have your SI set to the same range most of the time. That way your are comparing apples to apples. I run 65' range most of the time, I can normally tell you what size we are getting ready to fish. I never use 2D either. I love SI, DI and the 360.

These are roughly 9-10" fish IMHO

    These are 12-14" fish IMHO

Time looking at the FF is the best way to learn. I don't think you can make it come any faster, it just takes time.
