Default Humminbird Transducer Sharing...DI to SI unit does work.

There is an unexpected resolution to this ..... It has worked all along.

The question has came up intermittently over the last couple of years .... Can we share the DI from a unit with a dedicated DI transducer to a SI unit.... and we have always had to answer that it does not work since if failed when anyone tested it.

This has been bugging me since the transducer sharing spreadsheet for the 99 series and Helix series indicates this should work. Well, as usual, if you want to know what is really going on .... ASK DEBORAH.

The "trick" to getting this to work is in the sharing process. In order to be able to share the DI element (to a SI unit) it is necessary to SHARE THE 2d ELEMENT OF THAT TRANSDUCER FIRST....and then the DI transducer will be available for sharing in the advanced tab of the transducer selection menu.

So ...... You CAN share the DI from a dedicated DI unit to a SI unit .... (99 series and Helix) .... not sure if it works with the 98 series.

The bottom line for anybody wondering what this is all about ..... If you have a 99 series or Helix DI unit at the bow, and a SI unit at the console ... you can have SI and DI from the dedicated DI transducer at both locations by sharing the transducers.

Good work... I've already shared a di transducer via Ethernet between two si units. Also, did the same with a rotated HDSI transducer, with good results

Well then ..... why didn't you tell us how to do the Ethernet sharing?

Everybody ....on that other forum ....keep saying it won't work.

I think I did. Oh well, doesn't matter now. Di, is out of season! Chirps in season tho!! (time for you to upgrade... What's it's going to be? Onix, that they say won't communicate with Helix12 or Helix12, that they say won't communicate with the Onix?)

I'd love to upgrade.....but funds are harder to come by now that I retired......I now have more time, but less energy and money.

If I did, I would consider one Onix NT and probably Helix 10 for other/others.....but it would be really hard to decide. The Helix 12 will share waypoints with the Onix ....even though that was "going to be impossible to do" a couple of years ago.

Chirp does seem to be "the thing" right now, but I'm not gonna spend more to get it.

Yeah, but now think about this. To have built in chirp capabilities. There has to be, digital possessing.i don't see why they couldn't share everything? But if humminbird allowed that. There wouldn't be a Helix12 /Onix anymore. They would have to call it a Helonix unit.

    Helonix ... I like it ...

The question has already been raised if the HELIX 12 is digital Sonar ... But we don't have an answer yet ...

As it turns out ..... sharing a dedicated DI transducer via Ethernet to a SI unit is easier than we thought ..... I have no idea why everyone who tested this earlier said it didn't work.

    Here's Rickie's test video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vqkn9IkgTzQ
