I am new to the side imagine read outs I was out today for the first time and the left side was dark and not really showing anything but the right was clear and I could tell what trees where and a few stumps. Any help will be appreciated thanks in advance

A picture would have been very helpful. There is a lot of things like was both sides of the scan being activated. Is the transducer blocked by anything on that side(side imaging has to have a clear view on both sides). Is the transducer level side to side. Like IceNitro said do a default back to factory setting gives you a restarting point.

First thing you need to do on side imaging is check and see if your motor is in line with left side of transducer when your scanning. Or if you have another transducer or anything else on the transom that could interfere with signal from left side of ducer. Also go into your settings and check to see if left side is turned off. Like the other guys said doing a factory reset would solve that problem.
